Perth Airport's Train: The Airport Line
The Airport Line, otherwise known as the Perth Airport train, is operated by Transperth, and is Perth’s newest addition to the public transport network.
Running from Claremont to High Wycombe, via Perth Airport Station, it provides quick access to Perth Airport and surrounding suburbs.
Hours of Operation
- Monday - Friday: 5:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m.
- Saturday & Sunday: 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.
- Peak Travel Times: Trains run every 12 minutes during peak hours, ensuring frequent service for travellers.
- Service in the day: During the day, trains operate every 15 minutes.
- Service in the night: At night, the frequency drops to every 30 minutes. This schedule ensures round-the-clock access, but travellers should plan accordingly for reduced frequency at night.

Perth Airport Train Timetable:
The Perth Airport train operates daily from 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., making it a convenient option for travellers transiting between Perth's city centre and the Airport Central Station.
The journey from Perth CBD to Perth Airport takes around 18 minutes, with trains running every 12 minutes during peak hours, every 15 minutes during off-peak hours, and every 30 minutes during the night.
The train is especially great for those flying from Terminal 1 & 2, as it will directly connect you from Perth CBD to T1 & T2.
However, for those flying from Terminal 3 & 4, travellers will need to exit the Perth Airport train at Redcliffe Station and take bus 292 towards Perth Airport T3/T4.

Tickets for TransPerth
The Perth Airport Train Line operates under a two-zone fare cap, meaning that regardless of your starting point within the Transperth network, the maximum fare to Perth Airport is $5.00 - whether you use a SmartRider card or a regular ticket.
For eligible travellers, such as students, seniors, or pensioners, the fare drops to just $2.40 for journeys to or from Perth Airport.
SmartRider Options
For Perth locals, travelling with a SmartRider card offers a seamless experience on public transportation.
Using your SmartRider, you can save up to 20% on fares. For example, a standard fare to Perth Airport is $5.00, but with a SmartRider, you’ll pay only $4.00 or less. Plus, all SmartRider holders can travel for free every Sunday!
If you don’t yet have a SmartRider card, you can easily purchase one at Transperth Info Centres or select retail outlets throughout Perth, including:
- 7-Eleven stores
- Coles supermarkets
- IGA supermarkets
- Perth Airport terminals (T1 and T2)
- Various newsagents and convenience stores
Cash Tickets
Cash tickets can be purchased from ticket machines located at train stations.
Whether you’re travelling from Perth CBD to Perth Airport or vice versa, your ticket will cost no more than $5.00.
Please note that if you pay with cash on Transperth services, you’ll need to have the exact fare ready, as no change will be provided.
Additionally, cash tickets come with a printed expiration date and time, allowing you to board any Transperth service before that time.
Travel Time Limits
When travelling to or from Perth Airport, your fare will be valid for 2 hours for trip durations within zones 1 - 4, and 3 hours for journeys between 5+ zones.
Perth CBD to T1/T2 at Perth Airport via Transperth
For those flying Virgin Australia, Tigerair, Regional Express, or any other airline departing from Terminal 1 or 2, take the train from Perth Station towards High Wycombe.
Stay on the train until reaching Airport Central Station, which serves T1 & T2 directly.
No additional transfers are needed, and the route takes approximately 18 minutes.
Perth CBD to T3 / T4 at Perth Airport via Transperth
For those flying Qantas or Jetstar, and travelling via train, be sure to get off at Redcliffe Station on your way to Perth Airport.
This is the closest station to T3 & T4 and will take approximately 15 minutes from Perth Station. At Redcliffe Station, transfer to a connecting bus that will take you directly to Terminals 3 & 4.
The bus travellers need to take is Bus Route 292, which operates regularly between Redcliffe Station and the Drop-Off / Pick-Up areas at the terminals.
Train from Perth Airport to the City
Travellers arriving back to Perth Airport can catch the Perth Airport train to Perth CBD, where they will exit the train at Perth Station.
The train station is located at the Airport Terminal (T1 & T2), just follow the directional signage to 'Public Transportation' to reach it.
The journey will take approximately 25 minutes.
Alternative Transportation Options to or from Perth Airport
By Car:
Parking at Perth Airport is known to be expensive, and if you choose to park in one of the official on-site car parks within walking distance of the terminals, it definitely is.
Parking on-site at Perth Airport isn't the only option, however. Many aren’t aware that parking 2-5 minutes from Perth Airport is more affordable and secure.
By opting for off-site parking facilities, you can enjoy rates as low as $95.00 per week, with shuttle rides to the airport taking less than 10 minutes.

By Uber:
If you're heading to Perth Airport from the CBD, expect to pay between $40.00 and $60.00 for a one-way ride in an Uber during peak hours.
This means you might spend around $120.00 for a round-trip, just to travel to and from the airport.
While Uber is convenient, keep in mind that you may have to wait for your ride, and the overall cost can exceed the cost of off-site parking at Perth Airport.
By Bus:
Travelling by bus between Perth CBD and Perth Airport is the most economical option, though it can also be one of the longest.
There are two bus routes to choose from:
- Bus Route 380: Offers a direct service to Terminals 1 and 2.
- Bus Route 40: Provides a direct service to Terminals 1 through 4.
Buses run every 30 minutes and typically take around 30 to 40 minutes to travel between the Central Train Station and Perth Airport.
